I can’t believe it’s already the last day of August 2016, but at least it gives me an excuse to write a Favorites post! These products have been my go-to all month, and I absolutely love them..hence why they’re favorites! Now just to give you some background about my skin, it’s pretty dry, so I love anything that helps me achieve a dewy finish. I also don’t enjoy anything too full coverage, I enjoy the lightweight feel when it comes to face products!
Let’s start with my favorite foundation of the month, the Josie Maran Vibrancy Argan Oil Foundation in the shade ‘Awakened-RG45’. This foundation gives me beautiful coverage while achieving a dewy finish. It does not feel heavy on the skin, nor does it go on streaky. It lasts on my skin for a solid 6-8 hours, which is great because I am not a fan of having to touch up. I like to apply this with my It Cosmetics Foundation Brush, or with my Beauty Blender. The one that I have showing here is the ‘Sunny’ edition, which you can find here. The ‘Sunny’ Beauty Blender is the same size as the Beauty Blusher. In pictures online I thought it looked to be the same size as the original, but it still gets the job done (plus, it comes with a tube of sunscreen as well). I really enjoy it for applying concealer, as well.
Here you can see the coverage that is possible depending on how much of the product you would like to use.
Next, let’s talk about favorite concealer- Tarte’s ‘Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape’– what a name! This concealer is actually Holy Grail status to me, and I think it is to many others as well because every shade of this is sold out in store and online. I have it in both shades ‘Light’ and ‘Light-Medium’. I mix the two shades under my eyes, and then blend it out with a Beauty Blender. I always had issues with concealer creasing under my eyes, until this product came along! It really is a game changer, and I hope they start making more soon because I never want to be without this product! This product also works well to cover blemishes, and a little goes a long way.
‘Light’ is a little too light on it’s own. I add a couple dots of ‘Light-Medium’ to ‘Light’ under my eye, and it makes the perfect brightening-neutral shade. ‘Light-Medium’ on it’s own is too dark for my under eye, but works perfectly at covering blemishes.
Up next, and probably the most important- highlighters. Two of my favorites this month were the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in the shade ‘Celestial’, and Jeffree Star – Skin Frost in the shade ‘Peach Goddess’. I put the Cover FX drops on the high points of my face, and then go in with ‘Peach Goddess’ for an even brighter glow. If you want a more subtle or ‘glow from within’ look then stick to the Cover FX by itself. The Skin Frost, either by itself or on top of a liquid highlight, is blinding. Both, in my opinion, are worth the price tag. The Skin Frost pan is bigger than the palm of my hand, and with the Custom Enhancer drops a little goes a long way.
The Skin Frost is more of a warm gold-pink, while the Cover FX drops give off an icy pink frost. When layering the two you get a gorgeous, neutral pink. They are perfect for an everyday summer glow.
What’s a monthly favorites without mentioning lip products? My favorite lipsticks this month were Urban Decay’s Vice Lipstick in the shade ’69’, and Make Up For Ever’s Artist Rouge Lipstick in the shade ‘M401′. Now I am a huge red lipstick fan, and UD’s ’69’ has been a favorite of mine for years- basically since it was first released as a ‘Revolution Lipstick’. When I found out UD was discontinuing the Revolution Lipstick line I thought that I would be without ’69’ forever, but come to find out they released it as a Vice Lipstick as well and I couldn’t be happier! What I’m saying is that ’69’ has been a favorite, and will always be a favorite! If you are looking for an amazing red- look no further! It has a satin finish, and extremely comfortable to wear. If you are looking for a red on the opposite side of the finish spectrum, a matte finish, then go out and buy the MUFE ‘M401’! Tons of new shades of the Artist Rouge line launched recently, and I really enjoy the formula for it being matte.
From the swatches- ’69’ provides much more of a shine, but they both are extremely comfortable to wear. Both of these lipsticks will last all day on me as long as I wear them over a lipliner. My favorite red lipliner of all time is MAC’s Lip Pencil in the shade ‘Cherry’.
Last, but certainly not least, my favorite skin care product of the past month- Kiehls – Super Multi-Corrective Cream. Yes this is a pricey product, but this is another item that falls under ‘a little goes a long way’. I came across this product because the skin on my neck has been drier this summer, and I wanted a cream that was going to make it soft and smooth again. When this arrived in the mail I tried it out immediately, and the first thing I noticed was the scent- it’s subtle, but great! After using it for about a week I could notice a difference in the texture of my neck, so I decided to use it on my face as well. I use this when I get out of the shower, and it is also a part of my night time routine. My face feels so soft and supple after using this, I will definitely be repurchasing once it runs out!
There you have it folks, my first beauty products post! I hope you enjoyed, and come back for the next one! If you want you can follow my blog, and you’ll be updated every time I post!
